The short version
The Natural Sleep Lab earns money in two ways:
- Affiliate commissions. Some product links on this site earn us a commission when readers purchase through them. The reader's price doesn't change.
- Sponsored content (rare). When we publish sponsored content, it is clearly labeled "Sponsored" at the top of the article.
That's it. We don't run banner ads. We don't sell user data. We don't accept pay-to-play product reviews.
Our primary affiliate relationship: Titan Recovery
The Natural Sleep Lab has an ongoing affiliate relationship with Titan Recovery, the maker of bamboo silk mouth tape and Titan Air nasal strips. We earn a commission when readers purchase Titan products through links in our articles.
This is the largest revenue source for the site. We're transparent about it because we think readers deserve to know.
What that means for editorial
Three commitments:
1. Product claims are verified against the manufacturer's site
Every factual claim we make about Titan products is verifiable at titanrecovery.com. We don't invent features. We don't exaggerate testing. If we say the adhesive is SGS-tested to ISO 10993, that's because the lab report is publicly available at titanrecovery.com/pages/lab-tested. If we previously made an unverified claim and a reader points it out, we correct it. (This happened. We learned.)
2. We don't recommend products we don't use
Every Titan product mentioned positively in articles on this site is one the author uses personally. If we wouldn't pay for it without the affiliate commission, we don't write about it.
3. The commission doesn't change the analysis
You'll find honest caveats throughout: mouth tape is not for diagnosed sleep apnea (use CPAP instead), nasal strips matter less than airway-clearing breathing exercises, the supplement industry sells most magnesium in the wrong form, etc. We criticize categories the affiliate is in when the criticism is warranted.
Other affiliate relationships
We may add affiliate links to other products mentioned in articles (HRV trackers, supplements, sleep tech). When we do, the article will note it. The Titan relationship is the only one currently active that's large enough to call out separately.
Sponsored content policy
If we publish sponsored content in the future:
- The article will carry a prominent "Sponsored" label at the top
- The sponsor relationship will be disclosed in the first paragraph
- The article will not run unless the sponsor accepts editorial independence (we write what's true, not what they want us to say)
- We will turn down sponsors whose products we wouldn't recommend
If you're a brand interested in sponsored content, see the contact page.
FTC compliance
This disclosure is intended to comply with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission's guidelines on endorsements and testimonials in advertising (16 CFR Part 255). Affiliate relationships are disclosed in the footer of every page; product-specific disclosures appear at the end of relevant articles.
